End of Our International Montessori School Obidos Project  – Thank You for Your Support!

Dear Followers of the International Montessori School Obidos,

We are writing today with an important and heartfelt update.

School and Kindergarten Project Discontinued

After much effort and reflection, we have made the difficult decision to bring the planned International Montessori School and Kindergarten project to an end.

As mentioned in our previous email, we are not allowed to use the school building owned by the City of Óbidos without an official school license. This is a license we are not able or willing to apply for, due to the structure and values of our project.

We also requested permission from the city to open a kindergarten under new leadership. Unfortunately, this request was denied, and we are now in the process of returning the school building to the city.

While we were unable to solve the challenge of offering progressive  international education in the Óbidos area, we remain hopeful that other educators or parents may take up this mission in the future. We are happy to share what we have learned along the way with anyone interested.

Small Homeschooling Group

Although the school project is ending, we are continuing with a small homeschooling group of up to 4 children. We currently meet once a week and are open to adding 1–2 more children. Starting next school year, we plan to extend this group to two afternoons per week.

This offer is designed for homeschooling families and is focused on children aged 6–7. It follows Montessori principles and offers a supportive, child-centered learning environment. If you are interested, please feel free to email me. I’d be happy to set up a call and share more details.

Thank you!

Finally, we want to say a big thank you for all the support you’ve shown this project. We still deeply believe this kind of education is needed in our region and hope someone will take it further.

With gratitude,
Ben
