Program Details

Following the Montessori Method, our cohorts will include children of mixed ages, typically spanning three years, to promote peer learning, collaboration and mentorship. We will have up to 20 children per group and two adults with the children all the time, to provide nurturing and guidance.

Our Expansion Plan

We are starting small, with a Lower Elementary classroom for ages 6-9, opening in September 2024, and a plan to grow and serve other ages. Below is our projected expansion plan.

Outdoor Exploration Activities

Fridays are dedicated to off-campus explorations, planned in collaboration with community partners. Themes like “Water” might involve visits to local rivers, lagoons, and the Atlantic coast. These multi-week themes enhance learning through direct experience and observation.

We are a private school, operating as a nonprofit association without any government support.

SPECIAL OFFER FOR FAMILIES JOINING IN 2024: For our first students enrolling in 2024, this fee will be waived.

Registration, including the material fee, is paid before every school year.

All supplies for students for the whole school year are included. Children do not have to bring any materials or supplies to school: no notebooks, pencils, books, etc. This non-refundable, one-time fee covers Montessori materials and supplies for the entire school year.

Tuition Fee

We offer two convenient payment options to suit your needs: Monthly payments of €430 (spread over 12 months from September to August, as the school year runs until the end of June, but we want to support you by distributing the cost evenly) or an annual payment of €4,902, which includes a 5% discount if paid in full by September 1st, 2024.

Monthly tuition payments are due within the first five days of each month; a €40 late fee will apply if payment is made after the 5th.

We offer a 10% discount on tuition fees for siblings

Scholarships

We would like to offer scholarships and welcome donations toward the scholarship program starting now. Please contact us (community@childrenshouse.pt) if you wish to donate or apply for a scholarship.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your child’s enrollment at our school, please adhere to the following rules:

• Written Notice: All cancellations must be submitted in writing via email to the school administration.
• Registration Fee: The registration fee is non-refundable.
• Before the First School Day: If you cancel before your child’s first day at school, you will receive a refund of the tuition fee(s). However, the registration fee is non-refundable.
• Cancellations Within 30 Days After the First School Day: If you cancel within 30 days after your child’s first day at school, you will receive a refund of the tuition fee for the next month(s). The registration fee is non-refundable.
• Cancellations During the Academic Year: If you cancel during the academic year after 30 days from your child’s first school day, your cancellation will take effect after 90 days. No refunds will be given for these 90 days.

These policies are in place to ensure the smooth operation of our school and to allow us to plan effectively for the needs of our students and classrooms. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

The Enrollment Process

You can enroll anytime during the school year if we have the necessary capacity. September 2024 marks the beginning of our Lower Elementary program (ages 6-9). In 2025, we plan to launch our Primary program for ages 3-6. By filling out the form on our enrollment page, you will be added to our waiting list, and we will contact you. Waitlist Policy

Your child’s waitlist position will be determined by:

• The date you submitted their application.
• Whether your child is a sibling of a currently enrolled student.
• Whether you live close to Óbidos.
• Whether your child’s age matches the school’s available spot.

We will contact you as soon as a spot is available or before the opening of a new classroom, to ask if you are still interested in the spot. You will then have 14 days to make the final decision.
